Description

Kalogria beach is located 40 km from Kalamata and 6.5 from Kardamili and is the most famous and most organized beach in West Mani. It has white sand and clear blue waters that are renewed by the underwater springs of Taygetos. Nikos Kazantzakis lived on Kalogria beach for two years and had bought the Prastova lignite mine, which is located above Kalogria beach. In the northern part of the beach there is still the house where he lived with Zorbas, while at the southern end there is the “Kazantzakis cave”, which can be visited either by swimming or by boat.
