Description

Vlychada Beach in Santorini is one of the most famous beaches of the island, not only for its turquoise, warm and clear waters, but also for the unique, lunar landscape. The black sand with pebbles and the white volcanic rocks, which are carved by salt, wind and waves and look like sculptures that separate the mountain from the sea, give the feeling of being in a cinematic scene, from a science fiction movie, since this landscape is surrounded by the chimneys of an old tomato factory, which now functions as a museum and its chimneys rise majestically behind the rocks.

Vlychada beach is located on the south coast of Santorini, eleven km away from Fira and is easily accessible from the provincial road that leads to Akrotiri. There are signs that lead you directly to the beach, while in the homonymous village located next to the beach, there are restaurants, cafes and hotels for those who want to extend their accommodation. The beach has few sunbeds, while the taverns in the small port next to the beach, do not spoil the quiet and peaceful environment. If you want to relax, Vlychada is the ideal beach as it gives the feeling of isolation and that is why it is popular among couples, groups, nudists and families.

There is a canteen at the entrance of the old tomato factory, which has been preserved and now is a cultural center. Visitors of the beach can get the necessary things ,for their stay, from this canteen.

If you visit Santorini, Vlychada beach is a place not to be missed, as it will leave you with unforgettable memories and images. It is a fact, that this beach  received the prestigious Blue Flag award for 2021
